About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to lead the evolution of a strategic quantitative valuation platform within E.ON Energy Markets.
The platform provides valuation capabilities for a broad range of linear and non-linear energy products and is a critical component of our trading, risk and portfolio management landscape. Built primarily in Python, with Dagster at the core of workflow and calculation-pipeline orchestration, it combines quantitative models, reusable valuation services and modern software engineering practices to enable fast, reliable and transparent valuation across multiple business domains.
As Technical Product Owner, you will work at the intersection of energy trading, quantitative modelling, software engineering and product leadership. You will define the technical direction of the platform, shape its roadmap together with business stakeholders and ensure the successful delivery and stable operation of this business-critical capability.
This role goes beyond traditional backlog management. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with product thinking, can challenge architectural decisions, works closely with quantitative developers and engineers, and helps drive the adoption of AI-native engineering practices.
What You Will Own
Product and Platform Leadership
- Define and evolve the product vision, roadmap and priorities together with business and technology stakeholders.
- Translate trading, risk and quantitative requirements into scalable, reusable platform capabilities.
- Drive product decisions balancing business value, technical sustainability, operational excellence and long-term platform evolution.
- Maintain transparency on progress, risks, dependencies and architectural direction.
Technical Ownership
- Own technical decisions and end-to-end accountability for solution design, architecture and platform evolution.
- Ensure scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, security and observability remain core product qualities.
- Guide the evolution of the Python-based platform, including quantitative libraries, valuation services, APIs, engineering standards and Dagster-based workflow orchestration.
- Balance feature delivery, technical debt management and operational stability while aligning with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
Delivery and Operations
- Own and prioritize the product backlog in alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure technical feasibility, delivery readiness and quality of new capabilities.
- Drive delivery through the cross-functional team and coordinate dependencies across trading, market data, risk and consuming systems.
- Contribute to operational excellence, resource planning and continuous product improvement.
Stakeholder and Team Collaboration
- Act as the key interface between traders, quants, engineers, architects and risk stakeholders.
- Translate business, quantitative and technical requirements into clear priorities and actionable outcomes.
- Foster alignment across teams and challenge requirements, architecture and implementation decisions constructively.
AI-Native Software Development
We believe AI will fundamentally transform how energy trading platforms are designed, built and operated.
A key part of this role is helping us adopt modern AI-assisted engineering practices, including:
- Spec-driven development and AI-supported implementation, testing and documentation.
- Effective use of coding agents and human-in-the-loop engineering workflows.
- Guardrails, evaluation mechanisms and quality standards for AI-generated code.
- Automation and intelligent workflows that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
You do not need to be an AI researcher, but you should understand how AI is changing software engineering and be motivated to apply these capabilities responsibly in a business-critical environment.
What We Are Looking For
Required
- Strong technical background in software engineering, platform engineering, quantitative development or energy trading technology with 8+ years of professional experience
- Experience owning complex technical products, platforms or services.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Python-based systems, ideally in quantitative, data-intensive or business-critical environments.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical capabilities and leading delivery in agile, cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, prioritization and decision-making skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Dagster or similar workflow orchestration technologies.
- Experience in energy, commodity or financial trading environments.
- Understanding of derivatives valuation, pricing models, market data and valuation workflows.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, large-scale quantitative platforms, CI/CD, testing and observability.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development and coding agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Codex.
What Success Looks Like
You will help build a valuation platform that is: Quantitatively trusted. Technically scalable. Easy to integrate. Fast to evolve. And increasingly AI-native in the way it is engineered.
You will be recognized as the technical leader who ensures that Paradox delivers sustainable business value while remaining robust, modern and ready for the future.
